Forest Gate
Lovingly nicknamed ‘Forest Great’ by the locals, Forest Gate is located in the London Borough of Newham. It is just 15 minutes away from Liverpool Street from Forest Gate station and a short bus ride from the Stratford Westfield Shopping Centre. Exciting times are coming for Forest Gate as it will be getting a Crossrail station in 2018-2019, so watch this space! On the other side of the railway past the ‘village’ is the lovely open space, Wanstead Flats (450 acres of heathland). The Woodgrange Estate Conservation area is a residential area with mainly beautiful double-fronted Victorian 3 and 4 bedroomed houses. At the end of Claremont and Windsor Road, you will find council flats that were built over the remains of damaged properties that were bombed during WWII. A local, popular, food and craft market is available near the station on Fridays, Saturdays and the last Sunday of every month. Forest Gate provides a break from the urban landscape and really makes you feel as though you are in the countryside and not East London! There is a train station in Forest Gate with another in nearby Wanstead Park.

Upton Park

You can’t utter the words “Upton Park” without someone countering with “oh where the old West Ham United Stadium is”. Yes, we know that it’s there, but that’s not the only thing that Upton Park has to offer. Located in the London Borough of Newham, Upton Park is small in size but still has something to offer. Green Street is its High Street and a jolly good one at that, award-winning restaurants, lavish jewellery shops and a huge local market. Upton Park mainly has Victorian terraces available but there is a large development happening called Upton Gardens that will sit on the former site of the West Ham Football Club ground, some have already been completed so it’s the perfect time to buy a property in Upton Park! Upton Park has its own London Underground station on the District and Hammersmith & City lines.
