Leyton Area Guide

Leyton is in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and borders Walthamstow and Leytonstone. Historically, Leyton was a railway suburb with houses for the working classes with an easy commute to London.

You’ll find plenty of pubs here but not many shops other than the retail park at Leyton Mills, but luckily Stratford is so close that you are practically living there! With mainly Victorian terraces making up Leyton, this is an ideal please for families and first-time buyers.

At Eastway Sports, you’ll find that they offer a large variety of sports facilities, there is also an ice rink and a riding school and let’s not forget the Lee Valley VeloPark, which hold a crowd of 6000 people with a velodrome for track cycling and an outdoor BMX racing track. Leyton might be short on the shop front but not on the activity front. Another bonus is that Leyton is home to the New Spitalfields Market. Set in a 31 acres site which opened in 1991, it is Europe’s leading horticultural market which specialises in exotic fruit and veg. It is host to over 100 trading units for wholesalers who sell fruit, vegetables and flowers.

High Road Underground Station is on the Central Line and a London Overground Station at Midland Road. Lots of buses run through Leyton with some being 24 hours.
