Leytonstone Area Guide

Leytonstone is a suburb located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest in East London. This area is slightly more expensive than nearby Leyton as it has desirable properties on the edge of the Wanstead Flats.

It has its own tube station on the Central Line which runs night tube trains on Fridays and Saturdays and an Overground station on Leytonstone High Road (this road was a Roman track from London to Epping Forest).

Sir Alfred Hitchcock was born and raised in this very area and has many mosaics by the tube station dedicated to his films there (17 in fact and it took 80,000 tiles!), there is also the famous Alfred Hitchcock Hotel in Whipps Cross Road. Also on this road, there is the local Whipps Cross University Hospital.

Church Path near Leytonstone Stations is quite stylish with bookshops, pubs and cafes.  Hollow Ponds, Wanstead Park and Epping Forest are all nearby and offer lovely wide-open spaces. Families and first-time buyers are attracted here as they can get more for their money here than they can in close by Hackney.
