Chigwell Area Guide

What’s it all about:

Charles Dickens once described Chigwell as ‘the finest place on earth’ and it’s not hard to see why. A quiet place to live, with funky little boutiques on the high street as well as great cafés; there are plenty of local amenities as well as plenty of green spaces and parks.

There is a local nature reserve at Roding Valley Meadows which is famous for its beautiful wildflowers and wide range of wildlife. You have all the benefits of having London right on your doorstep, yet are surrounded by countryside. Chigwell station is on the central line, and for more frequent service to London there is also nearby Buckhurst Hill, Loughton and Hainault stations so you can be in the City in no time! All of this makes any property for sale in Chigwell an enticing prospect.

Culture & Development:

Locally speaking you have the parade of shops close to Chigwell tube station which is the hub of the area and is home to the area’s many hairdressers and beauty salons, ensuring the glamorous residents are well taken care of. There are also boutiques and coffee shops as well as restaurants and a gastropub. Chigwell resident Lord Sugar’s Turkish restaurant, Sheesh, in the nearby Ye Olde King’s Head is a popular spot with residents. To indulge in some serious retail therapy, Westfield shopping centre in Stratford is only a 17-minute journey on the Central line.

Another huge benefit to living in Chigwell is its accessibility to wonderful outdoor spaces including Epping Forest, the largest public open space in London, and Hainault Forest Country Park covering 300 acres and including adventure play areas, a small zoo, a fishing lake, nature trail and orienteering course. There are also golf clubs aplenty in this area.
